Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool 是一款微軟推出的惡意軟體移除工具，支援 Windows 7/8/10/11，它會檢查電腦是否有特定、常見的惡意程式，並協助移除找到的惡意軟體。當偵測與移除程序完成時，這項工具會顯示成果報告，告知 (如果有的話) 偵測到且移除了哪些惡意軟體。本工具會在 %WINDIR%\debug 資料夾中，建立名為 mrt.log 的記錄檔。換言之，這工具已安裝在微軟各版本的 Windows 系統中，除了可自己下載更新外，還可直接透過 Windows Update 的方式更新。

若要執行安裝於系統中的 Malicious Software Removal Tool，可按「開始」-「執行」，輸入「mrt.exe」再按「Enter」鍵即可啟動程式。您亦可自行下載、執行新版程式。

根據官方網站，微軟惡意軟體移除工具會在每個月第二個星期二發佈更新版本。此工具的主要功能是掃描、移除已感染電腦中的已知惡意軟體，跟一般防毒軟體不同的是，它不會常駐在系統中隨時監測是否有新的病毒，而是在使用者每次手動執行軟體時才會進行掃描。此外，此程式只能偵測、移除特定的已知惡意程式，無法用來取代功能完整的防毒軟體。

The program checks Windows computers for and helps remove infections by specific, prevalent malicious software; including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom. When the detection and removal process is complete, the tool displays a report describing the outcome, including which, if any, malicious software was detected and removed. The tool creates a log file named mrt.log in the %WINDIR%debug folder.
